Critical Study and Manuscript Analysis of Musnad Abū Ya‘lā al-Mawṣilī

Abstract

This article is an analysis of the manuscript of Musnad Abū Ya’lā Al-Mūṣilī. The analysis of Al-Mūṣilī's work aims to reveal the contents of the Musnad based on the manuscript approach. Musnad Abū Ya’lā Al-Mūṣilī uses the manuscript identification approach and manuscript content analysis. From the results of the identification and analysis, it was found that Abū Ya’lā had two versions of the Musnad, Al-Kabīr and Al-Ṣagīr - which were termed by scholars after him as differentiators. The newly discovered manuscript is only Al-Ṣagīr. This Musnad has advantages because of the sanad ‘ālī it has, but it is not free from the shortcomings of the absence of commentary on the hadiths contained in it
